Daimler Chrysler Automotive Specifications MSDB-75, CPN 4233/4 - Plexiglas® V052 (formerly MSDB-143) General purpose formulation specified for interior and exterior lighting components. Has been the primary material of choice for exterior lighting lenses where standard acrylic impact strength and moderate heat resistance is acceptable. High molecular weight (superior chemical resistance) and excellent mold release make this formulation a popular choice for molding reflex optics. MSDB-75, CPN 4230 - Plexiglas® V825-100-UVA (formerly MSDB-14) High heat formulation. Typically used for instrument cluster lenses, sub dials, and light guides. Excellent flow for thin wall and intricate parts. MSDB-75, CPN 4232 - Plexiglas® V826 (formerly MSDB-14) High heat, High molecular weight formulation. This grade is used for exterior lenses or inner optic plates where heat resistance greater than V-052(180°F) is required. Maximum continuous operating temperatures of up to 200°F are acceptable with this grade. MSDB-75, CPN 4235 - Type A - Plexiglas® DR (formerly MSDB-16) Highest Impact Plexiglas® formulation. Has now replaced virtually all polycarbonate signal lens applications. Specified primarily on trucks, sport utilities, and vans where the lamp will be subjected to high abuse. This grade offers impact strength 10 times that of standard unmodified grades with the combined benefit of excellent weatherability. None of our Plexiglas grades require any post mold UV protective coating. Plexiglas DR® is available in all standard automotive colors and has full SAE J 576 approvals. MSDB-75, CPN 4236 - Type B - Plexiglas® MI-7, MI-7T and MI-7C-56503RB (formerly MSDB-16) Medium impact, medium heat resistant formulation. Has become very popular for large, difficult to mold rear combination lenses. Preferred grade where insert or multi color lenses are being produced to minimize breakage. Plexiglas® MI-7 has been proven to reduce in plant rejects (where standard grades may be prone to cracking) and customer warranty claims in the field. Available in all automotive colors and meets all SAE/J-576 weathering requirements. Plexiglas® MI-7"C" 56503RB is specifically produced in a high gloss deep jet black color. Approved to Ford Ebony Clearcoat paint and GM8555 paint standards, this Plexiglas® formulation may be specified as mold in color to elimate the paint process. The jet black color is extremely weatherable, passing all OEM mold in color outdoor requirements. Should be considered in place of ASA, PC/PBT, and PC/ASA products, known to weather poorly outdoors. MSDB-75, CPN 4237 - Type C - Plexiglas® V052i (formerly MSDB-16) A lightly impact modified grade with superior heat resistance. This grade would be specified for exterior and interior lighting applications where standard V-052 (or any other unmodified grade) was initially specified, but cracking or processing difficulties caused high reject rates. This grade is available in all standard automotive colors, and provides excellent reflex performance with wide processing flexibility. Also available in jet black color 58208RB. Primary Contact: |
