Automotive Applications

The transparent Plexiglas® resins outlined in this table meet the requirements of FMVSS 108 and do not require a post-mold UV-protective coating. Our resins are available in a variety of grades and colors to suit your design and processing needs.

Automotive Trim

Plexiglas® acrylic resin can be used in a variety of trim and exterior applications including pillar trim, spoiler trim, mold-in color, mirror housings, and badging.  Plexiglas® acrylic resins can be injection molded, extruded, and thermoformed. They also offer great design flexibility, as they can be drilled, machined, engraved, and embossed to create a custom look for your automotive applications.

 

Plexiglas® V-Grade resin are formulated for general injection molding and extrusion applications.

 

Plexiglas® Impact Modified resins offer seven to ten times the impact resistance of standard acrylics while maintaining excellent optical properties. They also provide exceptional weatherability while offering a good balance between melt flow rate and increased resistance to breakage.

 

Plexiglas® Mold-In Color Grades, such as Plexiglas® V052i Piano Black or Plexiglas® MI7T,  replace painted components in applications such as rear pillars and aero strakes because they maintain their deep jet-black color and gloss despite extreme weathering.

Sun Visors and Wind Deflectors

Plexiglas® acrylic sheet is widely used in automotive aftermarket applications. 

Plexiglas® provides flexible design options that allow uses in many automotive applications, like wind deflectors.

 

 

Both standard and impact grades of Plexiglas® acrylic sheet are often utilized as wind and insect deflectors, as well as sun visors due to their ease of fabrication, UV weatherability, and durability.

Golf Carts & Recreational Vehicles

Plexiglas® MC acrylic sheet or the Plexiglas® Impact Modified Family of acrylic sheet are optimal materials for use in golf cart windscreens, accessory items and storage containers, as well as for use as motorcycle windshields.

 

Plexiglas® SG Plus meets the requirements for use in the golf cart industry.

 

Our family of Solarkote® products can be used in conjunction with many substrate materials, with a clear coat and a pre-colored Solarkote® color layer. Class A paint-like appearances can be obtained on many substrates all with the same great look.
